Minister of Finance Elitaş is Satisfied with Growth Figures

The Minister of Finance comparing the economic growth figures with those of European countries, said that they achieved an economic faster than 24 countries of Europe. Istanbul Congress Centre hosted the Innovation Week activities held between 3 and 5th of December 2015.  Elitaş who had a speech in the award ceremony for the Innovation Champions held within the scope of the activities, stated some points regarding the growth speed of our country.

“We continue to grow despite the Problems in our Close Environment”

T.R. Minister of Finance Mustafa Elitaş who said that the economic steps taken by our country should not only be taken into consideration on a local basis but on a global basis, made the following statement in his speech: “We are not one of those who see the issue as a simple financial development issue when we look at innovation. We see the steps we take for the development of Turkey as a march towards a civilization that contribute both to our own geographical region and to the world.  Therefore, innovation is a critical issue for us.  Therefore, it is an issue that we need to overcome.  This issue for me is an integrated part of our modernization history of over a 300 years period.

While Turkey was the 21st biggest economy of the world in 2002, today it has become the 17th biggest economy of the world.  Turkey’s economy which grew 2..5 per cent in the first quarter of 2015, showed a performance well above expectation with a growth rate of 3.8 per cent in the second quarter.   This growth rate indicates a faster growth than 24 European countries.   In the second quarter of 2015 after the global crisis, Turkey maintained an uninterrupted growth rate of 5.1 per cent for the last 23 quarters despite the negative developments in politics and in its close environment”.
